Philips CEO’s Health-Care Push Boosted by $500 Million Order

Philips_logo_neuRoyal Philips NV won a $500 million contract to supply equipment to New York-based Westchester Medical Center, giving a boost to Chief Executive Officer Frans van Houten’s plan to exit the lighting business and focus on medical gear.

Philips will provide clinical consulting services and equipment for patient monitoring, imaging systems and clinical data analysis for a period of 15 years, the Amsterdam-based company said in a statement Tuesday. It’s the company’s biggest such health-care contract so far.
