Now is a ‘very challenging time’ for Washington state medical device companies to find funding

health-costs-stockBiotech companies may be making headlines with huge deals, large funding rounds and public offerings, but there’s a segment of the life sciences industry in the Puget Sound region that struggles to raise early-stage funding.

Medical device companies continually garner less interest than biotechs, and that was a much talked-about issue at the Life Science Innovation Northwest 2015 conference in Seattle on Tuesday.

A panel discussion among venture capitalists mostly from Silicon Valley about sources of funding for young life science companies quickly turned to the unique challenges faced by medical device companies.
