‘Priceline for healthcare’ adds orthopedic procedures

497624-zendyhealth-in-the-pcmag-start-up-spotlightYou can name your own price for airfare, hotel rooms and rental cars. Why not healthcare? That’s the premise of ZendyHealth, a Los Angeles startup that allows consumers to bid on a variety of health, dental, cosmetic and now orthopedic procedures.

The platform has launched a “Pick Your Price” program in partnership with Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic to enable patients to name a fee they can afford to pay for procedures that they need. Heretofore ZendyHealth has offered bidding on services such as MRI and CT scans, teeth whitening and cleaning, and Botox and liposuction. Now they’ll be able to name prices for rotator cuff repair, shoulder decompression and stem cell injections as well — some of which aren’t covered by health insurance.
