Would You Let This Surgical Snake Robot Crawl Inside You?

jooca5z60twax7qqm84rThe roboticist behind the creepy snake robot is back with another snake robot. Only this time it’s a robot that you’re supposed to willingly let slither into your mouth. (For health reasons.)

The Flex Robotic System, which looks sort of like Wall-E’s phallic little cousin, is developed by Howie Choset, a professor of Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute. Designed for minimally invasive surgeries in the throat area, the system allows surgeons to navigate to the surgical site via robot and then perform surgery in a more traditional laparoscopic way.
